2nd grade homework for Mon. and Tues. 3/23 and 3/24/2020

 Required homework for 2nd grade:

Math: I will scan and email the speed drills for this week to you.  We do the top two boxes on Monday and the bottom two boxes on Wednesday.  For Monday, the first box they have 1 min. 30 sec. and the second box, they have 2 minutes.  Let them know when they can begin.  Please write the time it took them to complete the box in each one.  It's ok if time is up and they are not quite finished-just have them stop where they are.  (If you see that your student has repeatedly not been finishing speed drills in the designated amount of time, this would be a great time to get in some extra practice at home with your own speed drills  :)  Do p. 295-300. On the story problems, they are required to show their work so they recognize how they solved the problem. Please remind them that mixed numbers ( for #7 p.297) is when you have a whole number and a fraction together (example: If I have 2 whole pies and 1/2 of another pie, I have 2 1/2 pies).  You may need to remind them how to find perimeter. (#3 on p. 297) For #5 on p.298, they should have 2 circles marked.

Spelling: Do p. 94-96.  Write spelling words 3x each.Remind them that all of the pattern words this week are short vowel and have double consonants.

Just Write: 71-75.  Do p. 75 in cursive.

Reading: See Mrs. Greer's blog

Phonics & Language: 285-290.  Cross off all dictation.  Remind them that adverbs are describer words for verbs (action words) and adverbs often end in -ly.  Adjectives are describer words for nouns (persons, things, animals, places).  Write sentences for them and randomly leave a word blank that they can fill in-tell them you fill in the blank with a...(noun, verb, adjective, adverb).

Science: None for Monday/Tuesday.  I will be sending out an email regarding science.

Extras: (not required)

I have posted a cute art project on my Facebook that goes along with our recent science lessons since today is art day!  :)

Also, check out this minute devotional from the science devotional book that we use.
